As a web surfer, you should keep some tips in mind to keep yourself safe online.

1. Be wary about email attachments or downloadable software programs. As a rule of thumb, you should first know where an attachment came from before deciding to open it.

2. Run and update your anti-virus software. Computer viruses are very similar to their biological counterparts in that they constantly evolve and grow immune to anti-virus software.

3. Avoid using wi-fi networks. If you must use them, however, do not access websites that require you to divulge personal information, such as bank usernames and passwords.
